It’s clear that gamers love these little bots, and the excitement for them now is that their full-fledged PS5 game, Astro Bot, is coming in a few weeks. Astro’s Playroom is more than a demo as its charm and gameplay shine through to every player. Astro & his crew lead you into a magical introduction through the PlayStation®5! In this fun platformer, explore 4 worlds based on the console’s components. Each area showcases innovative gameplay using the new features of the PS5 DualSense™ wireless controller. goal123 sows the seeds of these concepts – which do a remarkable job of consistently tricking my brain into buying into the different topography – is the lobby hallway ahead of each world.
Head up to where the checkpoint is, and on the raised platform behind the pink plant is a small outcropping. These four bots are completely optional, so if you don’t have the time (or the storage space to redownload Astro’s Playroom), know that they won’t give you much of an advantage in Astro Bot. Bots are used to access new areas and puzzles, and since you’ll encounter most of the 300 bots in the sequel without too much effort, you can unlock what you need without what Astro’s Playroom can give you. A number of special bots were added to Astro’s Playroom in the months leading up to the release of Astro Bot.

There are a few areas where specific weapons like bows and arrows can be used to shoot explosive barrels, a clever way to get the player used to the new norm of adaptive triggers. Astro’s Playroom is a technical demo and free platforming game bundled with every PlayStation 5, and the gaming community could not get enough of its cutesy art style and homage to the brand’s history. Japan Studio wanted to give early users a taste of the hardware’s capabilities and showcase the improvements of the DualSense controller to give them a definitive next-gen experience. In the PS1 at the start of the level, there’s a memory card with “Ken’s” written on it. This is a reference to Ken Kutaragi, the father of the PlayStation.

Artifact 1/2 “PS One LCD Monitor” – Continue along that path to the end where the group of bots are and pull the wires on the ground to reveal this artifact. Puzzle Piece 1/4 – At the second checkpoint instead of going forward, go to the left and up to a platform where you can find a spot to blow into the mic. Puzzle Piece 3/4 – When you reach the next checkpoint, before going down the ramp, follow the path back to the right where you can hit a small jump which propels you into the air to grab this puzzle piece. Puzzle Piece 2/4 – After going underneath the large controller statue and entering the road area, this puzzle piece is on the left on the section of music chips.

Basically, it means that the triggers can offer resistance if you’re trying to perform some task that requires a lot of effort. With the feature turned off, the triggers will do a full pull as normal. But once activated, the triggers might stop halfway into a pull, requiring extra effort to “push past” the resistance to get a full trigger pull. Ico, The Last Guardian, Demon’s Souls, Patapon are all things of the past. In Sony’s new reality, there’s seemingly no more room for funding titles that resist Western trends and set their own.
On the right-hand side of the CRT pile at the end of the level are some Bots huddled around gaming on a CRT. The game they’re playing references Ridge Racer, released in 1997 for the PS1 and made by Delphine Software International. The title screen has close similarities to the original Ridge Racer and sequel Revolution, particularly the latter with a full-screen chequered flag. When you first enter the rainy section of Gusty Gateway, far in the distance to the right is a giant bird harassing/helping a Bot with a giant feather. This is a reference to the infamous The Last Guardian which eventually released in 2016 and was made by Team Ico. The Bot holding a feather refers to the game’s boxart, while the moment where he falls off and is saved by the bird references the E gameplay demo.
The PlayStation Vita was the successor to the PSP, featuring an OLED touch screen, two analog sticks, both a front and rear-facing camera, and a touch pad on the back. On October 10th 2013, a revised model was released with a thinner, lighter design that swapped the OLED screen with an LCD. The follow-up to the original Multitap, this peripheral also allowed players to use more than two controllers with their games. The PS2 Slim models didn’t support the first PS2 Multitap, and had their own model.
This is the R-C01 from the cover of Air Combat, the first game in the Ace Combat series released on the PS1 in 1995 and developed by Namco. Air Combat was originally an arcade game released in 1993, but the port was scrapped and a new game was made using the same name. Jump onto the thin ledge behind the tree and head left to the Everybody’s Golf VR easter egg. From here you can jump back down to cloud blowing the rotating platform, with the Piposaru container nearby. To do this, continue through the level until you get to the part where you have to ride on a PS1 / PS1 controller cloud.
